If you yearned to see more of Gong Yoo in Squid Game season one, you might be in for a treat. The makers of Netflix’s global hit show released a teaser on Tuesday, and much to the delight of fans, it has only Gong Yoo!
The new teaser titled “You’re invited” shows a more personal side to Gong Yoo’s character. The mysterious recruiter of the big game seems to have the most regular life of a corporate man, who wakes up, suits up, prepares his documents and briefcase and leaves for an ordinary day at work.
No, not really! Gong Yoo lives the most polished, sophisticated life, wears the costliest clothes and his briefcase items are a tad different. They aren’t any official papers but the famous red-blue envelopes, along with bundles of currency notes with which he lures common needy people into the bloody game. In the teaser, he takes to a metro station waiting for one particular train’s arrival, and ultimately asks the audience his famous words – “Sir, would you like to play a game with me?”
Gong Yoo’s character
The Korean heartthrob portrayed a salesman who recruits players from daily walks of life by luring them into a red and blue envelope game. He is ruthless in the calmest way. Though Gong Yoo made a small appearance in the first part, fans demanded to see more of him. And it looks like the makers have given him added screentime this new season.
About Squid Game
The first season of Squid Game premiered in September 2021. It showed 456 players who get picked from the streets of South Korea and taken to an isolated island where they compete against each other in popular Korean kids games. It is when the rounds turn deadly that one realises that they’ve been trapped. The survivors get a pass to proceed further in the tournament with only one survivor winning the ultimate prize money in the end.
