Hyderabad: A visually challenged elderly couple lived with the corpse of their younger son for four days, unaware he had died in their home in Nagole. The police, alerted by neighbors due to a foul smell coming from their home, were shocked to find the couple lying in a semi-conscious state.

According to a Times of India report, police received an SOS from locals in the Blinds Colony area of Nagole on Monday afternoon. Nagole SHO Surya Nayak and his team quickly responded to the alert. Upon entering the house, they found three individuals, the elderly couple and their son, K. Pramod, aged 30. Pramod’s body was found in a decomposed state.

The report stated that Pramod had served his parents dinner four days prior and then fell asleep. SHO Nayak said, “We suspect that Pramod died in his sleep. The exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem examination,” as quoted by TOI.

A police official mentioned that the visually impaired couple had been without food and water for four days since their son’s passing, leaving them too weak to move their limbs. The police later provided the couple with food and water.

Upon further inquiry, they learned of the couple’s elder son, Pradeep, who lives in Saroornagar. Pradeep was informed of the incident, and Pramod’s body was sent to a government hospital. After Pradeep’s arrival, the police entrusted the couple to his care, the report added.

In another incident, a fire broke out in a two-storey building in East Chandra Nagar, near Yakatpura railway station, around 11 p.m. on Monday night, claiming the lives of a husband and wife and injuring an 18 year old. The fire originated on the building’s first floor, where pastries were being prepared, and quickly spread to nearby crackers and cotton boxes stored for sale.
