Uttarakhand Rains: Schools To Remain Closed On August 1 In Wake Of Orange Alert

Dehradun: In the wake of an orange alert in Uttarakhand, all schools will remain closed in the state tomorrow, August 1. Notably, classes between 1-12 will remain shut in the wake of heavy rainfall warning. Notably, the IMD predicted very heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand till August 3.

“Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Uttarakhand during 31st July-03rd August,” the weather agency said in its press release.

Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke to the Secretary of Disaster Management. Dhami asked authorities to keep all the units in alert mode. The CM is personally monitoring sensitive areas in the region. He also advised locals not to step outside unless it is very important.

Meanwhile, the IMD also predicted heavy rainfall in parts of northwest India. “Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Uttarakhand during 31st July-03rd August; Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh on 31st July & 01st August; northeast Rajasthan on 31st July,” It stated.

“Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan during 31st July-04th August; Uttar Pradesh on 02nd & 03rd August; Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh on 02nd August, northwest Rajasthan & Delhi on 31st July & 01st August,” the weather agency added.
