KL Rahul and his wife, Athiya Shetty raised a huge amount of Rs 1.93 crore to help needy children. The proceedings of the auctions will be used to help hearing-impaired and intellectually disabled children, The Times of India has reported. Virat Kohli’s jersey fetched the highest amount during the auction.

The former India captain’s jersey was auctioned for a huge amount of Rs 40 lakhs. His gloves were also in huge demand and were auctioned for Rs 28 lakhs. The TOI report adds that Rohit Sharma’s bat was auctioned for Rs 24 lakhs. He is the present captain of India’s Test and ODI teams.

MS Dhoni’s bat was auctioned for Rs 13 lakh. Rahul Dravid’s jersey and KL Rahul’s bat were auctioned for Rs 11 lakh, each. Dravid is an ICC Hall of Famer and a former head coach of Team India. Many other cricketers came forward to support Rahul and Athiya in this noble cause.

KL Rahul eyeing Test comeback

On the professional front, KL Rahul is eyeing a comeback in the Test team. The right-handed batsman was part of the Test squad for the home series against England but could only play one match due to an injury.

He has been named in Team A for the Duleep Trophy and will play under Shubman Gill’s captaincy in the first round of the tournament. While he did wicketkeeping in the Test series against South Africa, he plays as a specialist batter in home conditions.
