Mohammed Siraj took a blinder to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan on Day 4 of the second Test between India and Bangladesh at Green Park in Kanpur. Indian fans hardly had time to breathe after celebrating Rohit Sharma’s stunner to dismiss Litton Das before Siraj grabbed another eye-popping catch to double the joy. Shakib Al Hasan charged down the ground to Ashwin and wanted to go over covers, but he did not time the ball well. At one point, it looked like Siraj misjudged the catch but he jumped it air, with hands going backward, and pulled off a one-handed stunner.
The two back-to-back catches of Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Siraj boosted India’s hopes of a remarkable win. The Test match has been marred by rain, with two days being washed out due to rain, and getting a result looks tough, however, India would be optimistic of a win as they have defeated teams within three days in India before. For India to win, they need to wrap up Bangladesh’s innings as quickly as possible and then play attacking cricket to take a healthy lead by the end of the Day. India can then bat for the first session and try to bowl out Bangladesh in 50-60 overs on the final day.
India started the day well with Bumrah removing Mushfiqur Rahim before Litton Das and Mominul Haque stabilised the innings. Just as when Bangladesh batters were set, two brilliant catches brought India back in the game.
