watch: stranded by landslide, gujarati tourists turn delay into garba dance party in uttarakhand

A group of Gujaratis stranded in Uttarakhand due to a landslide were seen passing the time by performing garba, a traditional dance, on a scenic road. The lively performance, which quickly went viral on social media, was filmed by Viraj Gorasia, a member of the tour group on a Char Dham Yatra.

Gorasia described the situation, noting that it had been raining continuously for three days, with landslides predicted in the area. On September 14, while on his way to Gangotri, Gorasia encountered a traffic jam stretching 8 to 10 km, caused by a heavy landslide. Police officials informed the group that road clearance could take between six to ten hours. Looking for ways to pass the time, a group of Gujaratis decided to start playing garba and singing traditional songs.

He posted a video of the group dancing on the road to X (formerly Twitter), where it garnered thousands of views and amused reactions. The travel group, consisting of 30 to 40 Gujaratis, danced for about an hour before enjoying snacks like theplas and khakhras.

The video sparked light-hearted reactions online, with some users joking, “Navratri ki taiyari (Navratri prep),” while others commented, “Gujjus are the best people I have known.”
