The IPL franchises have kicked off their preparations for the IPL 2025 season and a few of them are in search of new coaches. Delhi Capitals have already parted ways with Ricky Ponting while Punjab Kings could also sign a new coach. Lucknow Super Giants is reportedly in talks with Indian legend, Zaheer Khan.
Recently, Cricbuzz reported that there was uncertainty over Ashish Nehra’s future with Gujarat Titans (GT), hinting that he might not be part of the coaching staff in IPL 2025. Nehra has been working with GT since their debut and became the first Indian head coach to win an IPL title in 2022.
Sportstar has reported that Nehra is not leaving GT and he is likely to continue as the head coach of the franchise. The report adds that the franchise is looking for Indian coaches who can replace Gary Kirsten, who has taken over as the head coach of Pakistan’s white-ball teams.

Nehra has had a successful stint with GT so far. Under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy, GT won their maiden IPL title in their debut season. They continued their purple patch in IPL 2023 and made it to the final. The final went down to the wire and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) chased down the target on the last delivery.
Before IPL 2024, GT suffered a big blow as Hardik Pandya moved to Mumbai Indians (MI) via trade. GT appointed Shubman Gill as their captain.
The Gujarat-based franchise had a forgettable IPL 2024 season and they finished at the 8th spot. GT managed 5 wins from 14 matches. Since Shubman has now been appointed the vice-captain of India’s white-ball teams, GT could retain him as their captain.
