India are currently taking on New Zealand in the second Test of the three-match series at the Maharastra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. This has not been the most memorable Test for India as they are staring at a second successive defeat, and could also result in their first series defeat at home after more than 12 years. However, the one player who has managed to impress once again has been Yasahasvi Jaiswal.

The young opener slammed 77 in the second innings for India, and with this has managed to achieve a feat that has not been achieved by the likes of Virat Kohli or Sachin Tendulkar as well

Yashasvi Jasiwal Joins Sunil Gavaskar In Elite List

With his 77-run knock, Yashasvi Jaiswal now has scored 1025 runs in 2024 at home in India. This is now the third time that an Indian batter has managed to slam 1000 Test runs home in a single calendar year. The only two other Indians to achieve this frat was Sunil Gavaskar and Gundappa Vishwanath, both of whom scored 1047 and 1013 runs respectively in 1979. Hence, Yashasvi Jaiswal becomes the first Indian to achieve this feat after 45 years.

Here are the players with 1000+ Test Runs at home:

1407 runs – Michael Clarke, Australia (2012)

1126 runs – Mohammad Yousuf, Pakistan (2006)

1058 runs – Graham Gooch, England (1990)

1047 runs – Gundappa Vishwanath, India (1979)

1025 runs – Yashasvi Jaiswal, India (2024)

1013 runs – Sunil Gavaskar, India (1979)

1012 runs – Justin Langer, Australia (2004)

Yashasvi Jaiswal Becomes First Indian To Achieve Huge Feat

Yashasvi Jaiswal became the first Indian player to score 1000 Test runs in 2024, during his 30-run knock vs New Zealand in the first innings. The 22-year-old star became the first Indian to do so in the longest format of the game in a calendar year before turning 23 years old. Overall he became the fifth batter ever to do so after Sir Garfield Sobers, Graeme Smith, AB de Villiers and Alastair Cook.
